Role Summary & Benefits


About the role

Working closely with the Corporate Lead for Finance, you will help provide an efficient and effective accountancy service, offering expert financial advice and support to enable service managers to manage their budgets with confidence. This busy and varied role will involve preparing budget estimates, producing monthly budget monitoring reports, supporting project managers, and maintaining the Council’s financial information systems. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of technical accounting policies and procedures, including those required for the preparation of the annual accounts and the successful completion of the external audit. The role will cover all aspects of accountancy work, including capital accounting, and will require you to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers.

Key Responsibilities


About you

You will have a proven track record in a similar role, ideally within the public sector, and be able to demonstrate where you have taken the lead on financial matters, particularly the preparation of financial statements. Alongside a CCAB-recognised qualification, you will be confident using IT-based financial systems and able to quickly build an understanding of the role. You will use your initiative, work effectively with others, and communicate technical financial information clearly and in a way that is easy to understand. With excellent communication skills, strong organisation and attention to detail, you will be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and sharing information and advice with confidence. You will also be a supportive team player, able to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.
