Role Summary & Benefits
Full Time 37 hours per week (10am – 6pm)
Job Location – Office Based in Plymouth
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Client Contact Officer to join our Post 16 Learning Participation Team.
This is a key role supporting young people across Devon as they move into education, employment, or training. You’ll be confident engaging with young people and their families, gathering important information, and helping them access the support they need.
You will enjoy working from our Plymouth Office, balancing customer contact with accurate data recording, and playing an active role in helping the Council meet its statutory duties under Raising Participation Age legislation.
You will:
- Build positive relationships with young people, parents, and partners
- Proactively contact young people to confirm and update their EET/NEET status
- Provide helpful, clear information and signposting to support services
- Maintain accurate and timely records on our systems
- Work closely with colleagues across the wider team to support shared outcomes
What skills and qualities we need from you
We are looking for someone who brings strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
You will:
- Have experience working in a customer-facing role, such as a contact centre or public service environment
- Be confident communicating with a wide range of people, both over the phone and in writing
- Have good IT skills and be comfortable working with databases and data entry
- Be organised, able to manage your time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Show a positive, professional, and empathetic approach to customer service
- Be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Be resilient, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
